Time can fly past when you read a blog. Not so in real life - most of the time since I last wrote was spent in being the fulltime carer to my late wife.
I'm about to start the build, but now it will be for the two Australian great-grandsons, for whom the kayak will be named: 'LoKo'. Logan (the 'Lo' part) and Koby (The 'Ko' part) that is, LoKo.
The plans arrived on the 1st November 2020. I also sent for a book by the designer just in case there are any quirks.
I just sent off for a quote for the 50 Western Red Cedar bead and cove strips I will be using in the build LoKo.
I also asked for a quote for the glue I use to stick them together
'LoKo' does not yet exist, but here is what she will look like:
The design is taken from Nick Schade's 'Petrel Play' (See https://www.guillemot-kayaks.com/ ) which is a Red Cedar strip built 14 foot (4.26 m) kayak suitable for comfortable river cruising or deep sea sport with waves and surf.
The first step I took was to order the plans:

The name of the boat, 'LoKo' is a dedication to two of my Australian great-grandsons, Logan and Koby
